CR-TechnologiesText Box: Ready-to-assemble (RTA) technology, also known as "knock-down" (KD) or "flat packs", is furniture (and now DuraShutter) supplied as a kit of flat parts and fasteners to be assembled, usually by the end user, with simple tools. Assembled furniture and shutter are bulky, incurs storage and delivery costs disproportionate to its production costs; packaged furniture and shutters occupies little more volume than that of its components, and can be shipped at far lower cost. Factory assembly is not necessary, further reducing cost. RTA shutters packaged in a compact carton with detailed assembly instructions. Ready-to-assemble furniture is very common in Europe and North America. According to IKEA, flat-pack furniture was invented by Swedish draughts person Gillis Lundgren who, in order to fit a table in the boot of his car broke off the legs then reassembled it at home. He took his idea to his employers IKEA, who later built their business around it. David Blachley, a third generation inventor from Pasadena California has developed a patent portfolio for the world’s low cost window covering shutter using RTA, laminate materials, Euro hinge, and other technologies not commonly used in the art of shutter. Do it yourself (DIY) oriented people can find it enjoyable to assemble RTA units. ”Flat-packs”, IKEA furniture for example, is marketed on its completeness of an RTA product. In the design of this technology, the cost of transporting and storing products is kept in mind by retailing it as a flat pack. A flatter product can be easily stored and the cost of transport is lower overall as more items can be moved in the same space occupied by the assembled product. The cost of labor can also be reduced, as there is no need for workers to assemble the product before it is sold. Other cost-cutting techniques is employed by using MDF and a laminated vinyl or paper instead of using solid timber and costly spray painting technologies.

Medium density fiberboard (MDF-HDF) technologies: The material commonly use is a durable MDF that increases durability and further lowers cost. Cost impact of MDF casework MDF can be used to provide a very high-end look for a less expense than high-end painted or plastic shutters or furniture. The greatest impact on cost can be found when MDF is selected without painted or plastic coating. MDF can offer excellent value to a budget-stretched project without sacrificing aesthetics.

Laminate finishing technologies, Although commonly used in flooring and cabinet industry, this art, along with other existing and new technologies were crafted into the revolutionary DuraShutter® invention. The laminate DuraShutter material is more durable, lower cost, and Eco friendly than the traditional art and craft of finishing shutters. Cost impact provides a very high-end look of “shutters” for a less expense than the traditional art and craft of finishing traditional shutters, although not technically a wood finish, laminates are an alternative to traditional finishes. Laminates offer superior durability and reduced air emissions compared to other wood finishes. Laminates are durable, low cost, eco friendly alternative to paint or plastic coating.

Frameless design and Euro hinge technologies: Although commonly used in cabinet door industry, this art, along with other existing and new technologies were crafted into the revolutionary DuraShutter® invention. The Frameless DuraShutter with Euro hinges, requires less material, fabrication steps and installation time than traditional art of making and installing shutters. Cost impact provides a very high-end look of “shutters” for a less expense than the traditional art and craft of high-end frame-to-panel hinging shutter technology. The greatest impact on cost can be found when the frameless design and Euro hinges permit easy do-it-yourself installation. DuraShutter frameless design can offer excellent value to a budget-stretched project without sacrificing aesthetics from out-dated blinds made with controversial cording.

Text Box: Finally, after years of development the DuraShutter Standard Brand will meet long felt consumer demand for an affordable, fast delivery shutter to replace outdate blinds with a child-friendly solution, upgrade design and curb appeal for about the price of premium priced wood blinds or shades. Others are still skeptical however the fact remains, DuraShutter CR-Technologies are proven and rewarded with abundant commercial success within unrelated consumer products and responses to DuraShutter® Brands. David Blachley, a third generation inventor from Pasadena California has developed the patent portfolio that includes low cost custom made to order and do-it-yourself capabilities. Hard sought product development efforts to adapted and re-engineer the ready-to-assemble (RTA), laminate materials, European hinges, and other technologies not previously used in the art and craft of making plantation shutters. DuraShutter combined technologies offers price points, delivery times, and durability considered impossible with traditional shutter design. DuraShutter can be offered to the budget-stretched projects without sacrificing aesthetics from out-dated blinds.
