Side-by-side sales comparison |
|
Side by side comparison test results: First, 67% selected and purchased shutters featuring Weather Guard. Second, if same results hold true when adding Weather Guard to traditional shutter designs could represent significant competitive advantage over traditional designs. Third, results can be argued as biased towards either shutters made with Weather Guard or toward traditional shutters made with their respective advantages and that any cost differential had little merit.
Market studies suggest there is growing demand for the value-added features offered by ‘Weather Guard’, which should aid in market penetration into hospitality and retail segments with a low cost, high value first-to-market opportunity. Consumer and product testing: Biased side-by-side comparisons between shutters featuring "Weather Guard" and shutters without (Basswood and Polycore®) resulting in 67% homeowners purchasing shutters featuring Weather Guard. 1.) Comparisons between shutters featuring Weather Guard (dual light blocking / energy efficient tilt controllers) were offered at $2.00 to $3.00 less per/sq/ft than brands made without (traditional tilt controls). 2.) Sales representatives were motivated to sway homeowners to purchase shutters made with "Weather Guard" however not to disparage and to tout “Our Basswood and Polycore® shutters are among the highest quality on the market however not yet offering Weather Guard”. Side-by-side market testing offered two out of four DuraShutter® Brands both with Weather Guard and made of MDF with laminate finish, only in flat louvers (non-tapered) in one size (3½inch), one color (white) and offered only two optional frame profiles at $1-$2 per/sq/ft/. DuraShutter® DIY (do-it-yourself) was offered as RTA (ready-to-assemble) design at $2.00 less than DuraShutter® Standard including most frames ($1.00 less than basswood) compared to basswood offering more than fifty colors, three tapered-louvers and more than five frame options at no addition cost other than specialty shapes and bi pass system.
